Who Is Defending Farm Animals?
Defending Farm Animals (DFA) was incorporated early in 1999 after recognizing
the need for Minnesota based farm animal investigations. In 1996 DFA founders
began investigating issues that national groups had highlighted and found
circumstances that needed exploring and exposing. The mission of DFA is to
reduce the suffering of food animals though our investigations, exposes, and
public education. We focus on improving conditions for as many animals as
possible. Defending Farm Animals is the only animal protection group in the
upper Midwest that has and is incorporating public education and outreach with
investigations and exposes. DFA is a vanguard group that has and will continue
to successfully agitate for social reform and change for animal issues.

Methodology
Defending Farm Animals works to achieve it’s campaign goals
by five main focal efforts, (that are outlined in further detail on the next
page). First is the weekly TV series airing on the local cable network as well
two no-cost public access programs exposing the use, abuse, and exploitation of
animals. Second is the enormous mobile exhibit that travels to public festivals
and events across Minnesota. Third is investigations that validate the claim
that Minnesota animals are in crisis. Fourth is a speakers bureau that makes
available presentations for school and other public events promoting
vegetarianism/veganism and the ethical treatment of animals. Fifth is the
coalition work DFA does with other local animal protection groups and national
organizations to create solidarity and effectively pursue common campaigns.
|
Leadership
DFA is headed by three dedicated and seasoned individuals. Each has
specific responsibilities for each of DFA's programs and has daily
hands-on involvement.
|
Organization
DFA is incorporated in the State of Minnesota and is registered with
the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) charity. DFA has also
registered with the Attorney General of the State of Minnesota and
complies with all applicable laws and regulations. All donations to DFA
are tax deductible.
