This video shows two types of animals commonly confined in
Minnesota: Breeding sows, and leg laying hens. Sows are kept in crates not
much larger than their bodies, only removed while giving birth. When
eventually taken to slaughter they are so weak that they often collapse.
Laying hens are crammed into tiny cages for their entire lives. Once
they stop producing they are considered "spent" and are trucked
to slaughter.
