In 1997-1998 DFA investigators visited
13 rodeos around Minnesota and documented cruelty at all of them.
We video taped stock contractors repeatedly electrically shocking bulls
at the MN state fair which aired and led the Las Vegas news at the
National Rodeo Finals. Officials at the MN state fair issued rule
changes regarding shocking rodeo animals.
DFA investigators documented proof the downed
cowtrade is active in the upper Midwest. Sometimes
injured/sick cows are transported out of Minnesota into neighboring
States. This industry continues to require oversight since claimed
improvements are seldom long lived.
Modern pig production
facilities surprise many Minnesotans. Many people are often angry and
sad to learn how family farms are vanishing to be replaced with these
horrible and cruel factories. Intensive confining sows especially
disturbs the public.
DFA found thousands of "spent
hens" (chickens) freezing to death in Minnesota in 20 below
zero temperature. Our footage of rough handling and loading of turkeys
makes many viewers think twice about eating turkey meat.
Farm animals
are dying in enormous numbers in the upper Midwest. DFA documents this
suffering so people may decide for themselves if they want to be part of
inflicting suffering on to animals in agriculture.
After discovering two illegal and
inhumane slaughter operations DFA worked with SHARC and others to
get the humane slaughter act enforced in So. Saint Paul, MN.
